Gauhati HC Bar body meets CJI

NEW DELHI, Aug 23 - A delegation of the Gauhati High Court Bar Association on Sunday met Chief Justice of India HL Dattu and formally lodged a complaint against a senior Judge of Gauhati High Court.

The delegation, led by the president of Gauhati High Court Bar Association, Apurba Kumar Sharma, along with AK Bhattacharyya, AC Borbora, KN Choudhary, HR Choudhary and Bijan Kumar Mahajan met the Chief Justice of India at his residence.

The CJI gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that he would look into the grievances mentioned in the memorandum, describing them as serious, which and needs immediate redressal, said a member of the delegation.

The delegation informed that a meeting has been convened on Tuesday wherein senior Judges of the Supreme Court would participate along with Judges who have been elevated to the apex court from the Gauhati High Court including Justice Ranjan Gagoi, Justice A.M. Sapre and Justice Amitabh Roy to deliberate on the contents of the memorandum in question and to take remedial measures, said the president of the Bar Association.
