Garo Hills primary teachers to stage sit-in

TURA, Oct 14 - Teachers of Garo Hills under the aegis of All Garo Hills Primary School Teachers� Association (AGHPSTA) has announced a sit-in protest in front of the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner�s office here on October 17 against the alleged failure of the Meghalaya Government to respond to the demands of the teachers.

The teachers had earlier served a 15 day ultimatum to the State Government on the demand that teachers appointed by the State be no longer be categorised as government and non-government teachers and teachers appointed since 1995 are regularised.
