GUWAHATI, July 8 � A joint delegation of the Garo Sahitya Sabha and Garo Students� Union met Education Minister Sarat Barkotoky on Sunday and apprised him of the educational problems faced by the people of the Garo community in the State. The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the minister, seeking early redress of their grievances.
The minister, according to a press statement, has assured that the Nisangram High School in Goalpara and the Gohalkhana High School in Kamrup will be upgraded into higher secondary schools. The delegation also urged the minister to fill up all vacant posts in schools and colleges.
