DIGBOI, Dec 31 The savagery of the killers of the MKB Tea Estate owner Mridul Bhattacharyya and his wife Rita is believed to have crossed all limits with the investigation revealing that five of the culprits actually ate up the burnt-up flesh of the slain couple. It is gathered from Tinsukia police sources that around 10-12 persons killed the owner of the tea estate at Kunapathar under Bordumsa Police Station on December 26 last. The investigation has further revealed that the couple had been killed inside the bungalow and Bhattacharyyas body was then cut into pieces. The bodies were set afire before the mob torched the house from outside.

The culprits who were arrested today are Maneswar Mura (49), Jiten Mura (20), Anem Mura (26), Samra Mura (24), Boga Bhumij (24) and Abhiram Mura (33). Maneswar is stated to be one of the main culprits whose service had been laid off in 2009 by the MKB tea garden management.

All the prime accused along with the majority of the violent mob belonged to other tea gardens and not the one owned by Mridul Bhattacharyya. One of the prime accused, identified as Santosh Dhan (22) was arrested yesterday from the nearby Redeemer Tea Estate.
