Ganguly should also be considered for RS: CPI

By The Assam Tribune

NEW DELHI, April 27 (PTI): A day after cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, CPI today demanded that former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Gangulys name should also be considered for the Upper House.

I welcome the decision to nominate Tendulkar to the Rajya Sabha. But at the same time when Sourav is in his top form, his name too should have been considered (for the Rajya Sabha), CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta told reporter outside Parliament.

He also said that besides film stars, writers, people associated with culture and poets should also be sent to the Upper House. The communist leader said that since India is a country of workers industrialists should not be brought to the Rajya Sabha.

No handshake again as Chelsea meet QPR

LONDON, April 27 (Reuters): The Premier League have agreed that no handshakes will take place in the match between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea on Sunday because of tensions between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea and former England captain Terry, who denies wrongdoing, has been charged with racially abusing QPR defender Ferdinand in a league game in October.

Terry is due in court in July after the Euro 2012 tournament. The Premier League position on the pre-match handshake convention remains consistent. In all normal circumstances it must be observed, the Premier League said in a statement.
