Gallantry medal for Bhaskar Kalita

GUWAHATI, Aug 14 - Sub Inspector Bhaskar Kalita, the then officer-in-charge of Bordumsa police station who was killed in an encounter with ULFA militants in May last year, has been conferred the Police Medal For Gallantry along with 176 other personnel of various forces of the country.

Twelve personnel of the State have received the police medal for meritorious service � DCP (security and intelligence) Bedanta Madhav Rajkhowa, CID DSP Dwijen Chandra Das, Inspector (BIEO) Prafulla Barman, SI (PTC) K Basanta Singha, ASI (Goalpara) Apurba Sarma, ASI (Panchgram) Muzharul Islam Laskar, head constable (Sadiya) Manab Sonowal, naik Rantu Kumar Gogoi, constable (Tinsukia) Kripasindhu Purkayastha, constable Abani Kumar Chakraborty, constable Moheswar Sonowal, constable (CID) Utpal Jyoti Deka.

Havildar clerk Bhuban Saikia has received the President�s Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service and Havildar Gobin Saikia has received the Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service.

The Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service has been received by sub-officer Kuleswar Teron, leading fireman Promod Talukdar and havildar Prasanna Teron.

Those who have received the Chief Minister�s Police Medal for Outstanding Service are AIG (admin) Rafiul Alam Laskar, SDPO (Bijni) Prakash Medhi, Divisional Officer (east) Mukunda Murari Mahanta, Inspector Bachan Singh, SI Md Emdadul Hussain, SI Rudra Kanta Bordoloi, SI Debojit Kumar Bori, SI Abhishek Bodo, SI Sabir Ali and UBC Rupam Kumar Dihingia.
