Gadkari vows to address problems of NE people

GUWAHATI, June 30 � The Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) organised an interactive session with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Jairam Gadkari yesterday, said a press release here today.

Minister Gadkari welcomed inputs and suggestions offered by the members present and assured that his Ministry will always try its level best to address the issues and concerns of the people of the North East.

He also spoke about implementation of new schemes for the uplift of road transport and highways in the entire North East region with further investment of Rs 10,000 crore for the sector.

Other dignitaries present in the interactive session were Vijay Chhibber, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Government of India, Neeraj Verma, Joint Secretary, MORTH, Anand Kumar, Managing Director, NHIDCL, Sanjay Jaju, Director (A&F) NHIDCL and a host of senior officials from NHIDCL and captains of industry and commerce from different parts of the country.

An interactive session was also conducted between the distinguished guests and members of industry and commerce which turned out to be quite successful.

On the occasion, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiran Rijiju and Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal were also present as guests of honor.

Earlier, FINER chairman R S Joshi welcomed the august gathering and lauded the Union Minister�s efforts for the development of the North East region, especially addressing the infrastructure issues, said the press release.
