JORHAT, March 11 � In order to promote tourism and spread the message of brotherhood and unity among various communities of the State and bordering Nagaland locals of Nakachari area of Jorhat district is organising Gabhoru Festival -2015 with a three-day festivities at Gadadhar Singha Gabhoru Kuori Samannay Khetra in the locality from March 13.
In a press conference here today the members of the organising committee said that along with Bihu and Jhumur dances various kinds of folk dances of Mising, Karbi, Tiwa, Bodo, Moran, Rabha and Naga dances will be performed by the artists.
The organisers said that they are trying to showcase the age-old cultural heritage of the State as well as Nagaland to attract the tourists to Gabhoru area which bears the legacy of Ahom rule and later the tea cultivation by the oldest Assam Company under the leadership of Robert Bruce in 1839.
�The natural beauty of the oldest tea gardens and the scenic landscape add extra glory to the historical Gabhoru Parbat. We are inviting people of our State and neighbouring Nagaland to take part in the festival,� said Jyoti Prasad Gogoi one of the organisers.
