Funds sought for new districts in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Oct 22 - The Mizoram Government has sought Rs 75.83 crore from the 14th Finance Commission for the creation of new districts, State Finance Minister Lalsawta informed the House today. Replying to a question from Lalruatkima of the Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalsawta said that the demand for funds from the Finance Commission was not made in the name of particular districts. �A sum of Rs 75.83 crore has been sought from the 14th Finance Commission for the creation of new districts, but no names have been mentioned,� he added.

In another reply, the Finance Minister said that an amount of Rs 122.20 crore has been sought from the 14th Finance Commission to set up the Lokayukta. He added that the Finance Commission has stopped specific recommendations for the creation of Lokayukta.
