HOWRAGHAT, Aug 22 The unexpected curtailment of funds is likely to put brakes on developmental projects in Karbi Anglong.
Though many luxurious projects were taken up by the KAAC, chiefly in PHE Department, these works are almost likely to stop due to shortage of funds. As a result, people of the hill district will have to face a stiff situation in the coming days. This was expressed by Sum Ronghang, EM, i/c PHE, Department, KAAC at public function recently.
Despite there being the same Government, both at Dispur and Diphu, massive differences exist between the two in respect of funds allocation. Taking part in the inaugural function of the newly-constructed PHE water supply scheme at Uttar Phonglokpet, Bakaliaghat on Friday, Ronghang alleged that this time the State Government is showing a negative attitude particularly towards sanctioning of funds.
This time the people of Karbi Anglong hill district will have to bear the brunt of the unexpected curtailment of funds.
He reiterated that the developmental projects under ARP schemes will have to be abandoned due to shortage of funds. According to Ronghang, only Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned under the ARP scheme against the four PHE divisions of Karbi Anglong, which is a record. This has happened due to the indifferent attitude of the PHE Departmental chief secretary, he alleged.
The indifferent attitude will certaintly harm the mission and vision of the PHE Department and as a result people of the hill district will have to face a difficult situation against the massive curtailment of funds in the coming days, Ronghang reiterated.
It needs to be mentioned here that Sum Ronghang formally inaugurated a newly- constructed PHE water supply scheme under NRDWP programme under Howraghat PHE division on Friday where Additional Chief Engineer, Dwijendra Deka, Mohakanta Hazarika, chairman block committee of KAAC, Ranjt Kumar Shome, joint secretary, KAAC and other officers from Howraghat, Hamren and Diphu divisions took part.
