French envoy shows interest in NE tourism

AGARTALA, April 16 � France�s Consulate General Jean-Louisrysto has indicated at sending an Indo-France Business delegation to Tripura for extensive discussion on potential sectors.

Louisrysto of the French Consulate in Kolkata, who arrived here Wednesday on a three-day visit, visited Bodhjungnagar Industrial Estate, 13 km from here to have a first-hand knowledge about the industrial scenario in the landlocked State. The French envoy inspected the Rubber Park and interacted with the employees there. Later, he also interacted with the local entrepreneurs to know their views on the potential sectors.

Pabitra Kar, Chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDC) who was present during the visit of the French envoy said that Louisrysto had hinted at sending an Indo-French business delegation to explore business potential in the State.

�The envoy has expressed good interest in the State�s agro-based industry, rubber and tourism sectors�, Kar said. The envoy said, France is exploring the possibilities of investment in different sectors in the Northeastern parts of India after rollback of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system.

After the adoption of the �Look East� policy and withdrawal of Restricted Area Permit (RAC) from different parts of the North East, France is exploring the investment avenues in agro sector, tourism, medicinal plants, mining and railways�, Louisrysto said at an interactive session with the media here on Wednesday.

�Tripura�s diverse culture especially indigenous life-style could attract the French tourists�, he pointed out.
