GUWAHATI, Nov 4 - The 112th birth anniversary of famous freedom fighter, social worker and teacher, late Karuna Kanta Bhattacharyya of Barnarddi village near here will be observed in his native village on the occasion of Children�s Day on November 14 under the auspices of Pub Barnarddi Village Development Council and Gopal Gosaighar Managing Committee, stated a press release. A book depicting the life of Bhattacharyya will also be released to mark the occasion.
In the morning on that day, floral wreaths will be laid on the photo of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and the bronze statue of Bhattacharyya by the Nalbari district freedom fighters� conference general secretary Phanindra Nath Kalita, senior surgeon Dr Bhupesh Sarma and senior citizen Banikanta Sarma. There will be a painting competition and an extempore speech competition among the children.
In the afternoon, a public meeting will be held under the presidentship of Debendra Nath Sarma. The chief guest here will be senior journalist Kanaksen Deka and the appointed speaker litterateur Dr Basanta Kumar Bhatta-charyya. Dr Dipak Kumar Sarma, Vice-Chancellor of the Sanskrit University, will release the book on late Bhattacharyya. Bhagawan Deka will inaugurate the meeting.
