GUWAHATI, April 6 - A portion of the ceiling on the second floor of the D Block in the State Secretariat here today gave in, but fortunately no one was injured.
The incident took place around 12 noon.
�A portion of the ceiling, measuring around two square feet, crumbled down in the room of the hill areas development department. Fortunately, an employee who was seated below had just moved out of the room. There was no injury to any one,� an official said.
Sources said the portion of the ceiling was leaking for some time and no repair work was carried out to fix it. Such leaks had also been reported from other places in the Secretariat.
