NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Jan 26 - A fraudster, who allegedly duped several people since 2017, was arrested at Panigaon in Lakhimpur district on Thursday evening.
Padmeswar Gogoi of Bokulgaon under Panigaon Police Station has been accused of collecting money from more than 150 people promising them to get their vehicles hired by Oil India Limited in Duliajan.
He is believed to have collected several crores of rupees from his victims over the years. He used to take Rs 1 to 2 lakh from his victims.
Though many complaints were filed against Gogoi at Panigaon police station, he had been evading arrest for long.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab his accomplice.
