Fraud held at Mushalpur

MUSHALPUR, Oct 23 - One Haricharan Deka, an ex-Army man of Adalbari Singrapara village under Mushalpur PS was arrested by Baksa Police recently after a case was registered against him for allegedly collecting around Rs 92 lakh from 38 unemployed youths by promising them jobs in the Police, Water Resources, Health and other Government departments.

The person had allegedly collected one to five lakh rupees from each youth who pressurised him to return the money as he failed to offer them the promised jobs even after a long wait.

As the accused absconded, the youths filed a case at Mushalpur PS. Following this, the Baksa Police arrested Deka from Sarthebari market with the help of Sarthebari police and produced him at the court. The alleged fraud admitted the offence and added that one Sakuntala Roy of Patacharkuchi was also involved in the racket.

Siddhi Kumar Baruah, DSP, Baksa told mediapersons that the accused cannot escape punishment if the charges are proved to be authentic.

He also assured that others involved in the case will soon be nabbed. It is noteworthy that the accused had earlier courted controversy by opening nurse training centres nearly eight years ago.
