Four minors rescued from Arunachal

DIBRUGARH, Aug 29 - In yet another case of child trafficking, four minors of a nearby tea estate here, were rescued from Arunachal Pradesh today.

Altogether five minor boys aged between 9 to14 were reportedly trafficked by one Deep Gogoi of Phukan Ghat, Rohmoria. Gogoi who has gone missing now, had reportedly distributed the boys to different families in Anini, Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh to work as domestic help in exchange for money, Childline volunteers who rescued the boys told The Assam Tribune.

The parents of the children were reportedly told that their kids would get an opportunity to pursue studies in Arunachal Pradesh. The five children whose identities have been kept under wraps were trafficked on June 26, 2018. One of the trafficked children however, managed to return to his home. An FIR was lodged against Deep Gogoi at Rohmoria PS on August 5.

In pursuance of the police complaint, Dibrugarh Childline got in touch with Itanagar Childline and rescued the children from different houses in Anini, Dibang Valley with the help of the police, Child Protection Unit and administration of Arunachal Pradesh.
