Four ministers given additional portfolios

GUWAHATI, July 23 � Governor JB Patnaik today approved Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi�s recommendation for dropping Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey and Siddique Ahmed from the Council of Ministers.

The Governor also approved the resignation of Himanta Biswa Sarma on the recommendation of the Chief Minister, said an official press release here.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Gogoi today allocated additional portfolios temporarily to four ministers of his ministry. Dr Nazrul Islam, Minister, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Welfare of Minorities, has been allocated the additional portfolio of health and family welfare, while Pradyut Bordoloi, Minister Power, Industries and Commerce and Public Enterprises, has been given the education portfolio. Nilamoni Sen Deka, Minister Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing and Parliamentary Affairs, has been allocated two additional portfolios, irrigation and soil conservation. Minister of State (Independent Charge), Excise, Sports and Youth Welfare Ajit Singh, has been given cooperation as additional portfolio.

Governor Patnaik approved the additional allocation of portfolios to the Ministers.

The Chief Minister has reappointed Bharat Chandra Narah as his Press Adviser in the rank of Cabinet Minister. He has directed Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla to issue the order for reappointment of Narah as his Press Adviser.

It may be mentioned that Narah had tendered his resignation to the Chief Minister just before the Lok Sabha elections in order to work for the party.
