Four JE cases in Dhubri district

DHUBRI, July 31 - Since the month of January till Friday, in the Dhubri district, six persons have been found with Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) out of which four have confirmed as Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases.

The Health officials of the district informed that AES have already claimed one life and one suffering from JE is undergoing treatment at AMCH, Dibrugarh. It was also informed that out of the four JE, three are from Raniganj BPHC and one under Dharmasala BPHC. It was also informed of the condition of all the JE patients is improving.

Dr Nazia Khatun, District Vector Borne Disease Consultant, Dhubri informed that they have taken strict action to curb the outspread of the disease. �Fogging is being done extensively in all areas from where the AES and JE cases have been reported and mass blood slide collection and Rapid Diagnostic Tests are being carried out�, she said.

She also informed that mass awareness on these regards is being created. �In general, awareness on all vector borne diseases (VBD) like malaria, JE, dengue, etc., is being created. Source reduction activity, fever surveillance, display of hoardings, distribution of leaflets of VBDs was going on in every nook and corner of the district,� she stated.
