Four held in chit fund case

GUWAHATI, Jan 21 - Dispur police have arrested four employees of a chit fund company which duped over 5,000 gullible investors.

The accused were running a firm by the name �Subh Sakti Chit & Credit Cooperative Society� at Lalganesh area of Odalbakra in the city.

Dispur police station officer-in-charge Himangshu Das said the accused had been running the Society since 2000.

�They had collected over Rs 10 crore from some 5,000 investors since then,� Das said.

Among the arrested are secretary of the chit fund company Chandra Das (39) of Odalbakra, its chairman Paritosh Mandal (52) of Odalbakra, vice chairman Paresh Basak (48) of Lalganesh and vice secretary Prakash Saha (42) of Barpeta Road.
