Four held for violating lockdown rules

DIBRUGARH, April 17 - In violation of the lockdown rules, four people were rounded up by the police while trying to drive a car (AS22B 4310) with a false �PRESS� sticker on it.

Police had signalled them to stop near Bogibeel but they did not stop.

They were, however, waylaid and detained. According to the police, none of the passengers was related to media. There were four passengers on the vehicle and the driver was drunk. A case has been registered and an investigation is on, police added.

ATEPFO distributes ration: In view of the hardships being faced by the workers of Balimara Tea Estate near Naharkatia town due to the situation arising out of the lockdown, the Assam Tea Employees Provident Fund Organisation (ATEPFO), Board of Trustees, Nidhi Bhawan,Guwahati provided ration to the needy families. The officials led by a team from the ATEPFO office here distributed essential items among 300 garden workers, a release stated.
