Four held by RPF

GUWAHATI, Aug 12 - Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday night apprehended four persons for allegedly involved in drugging of passengers and robbery in trains, at the Kamakhya Railway Station here.

�On Saturday night, we have found one person, namely AM Ahmed, in partly unconscious condition on the Bongaigaon-Guwahati passenger train when the it arrived at the Kamakhya Railway Station at around 9.15 pm. He said someone offered him food and then he lost consciousness. We took him to our office for treatment and launched a search operation to nab the miscreants. In the operation, we found one suspicious person who later introduced himself as Sukur Ali. We took Ali to our office and the victim said Ali was the person who offered the food,� said RPF official Jayanta Das.

Later, based on the statement of Sukur Ali, the RPF also apprehended another three persons, identified as Hakim Ali, Anowar Hussain�and Faijul Ali, from the Kamakhya Railway Station.

�The gang of four persons was planned to travel to Dhubri last night on a passenger train. We have recovered lots of sleeping pills from their possession and later handed them over to the government railway police. All of them hail from Fakiragram,� Das added.
