Four file nominations for Hayuliang by-poll

ITANAGAR, Nov 2 - Altogether four candidates have filed their nominations for the November 19 by-election to the Hayuliang assembly constituency in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Those who filed papers include Bharatiya Janata Party� Dasanglu Pul, wife of former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, and opposition Congress� nominee Er Lupalum Kri. Two independents � Yompi Kri and Kotenso Kri � have also filed their nomination papers, according to Deputy Chief Electoral Officer DJ Bhattacharjee.

Today was the last day of filing nominations. Scrutiny of the nominations will be held on November 3, while the last date of withdrawal of nominations is November 5.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has appointed two Election Observers, including one General Observer and one Expenditure Observer, for the Hayuliang by-poll.

The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer informed that the Election Observers have already arrived in the poll-bound constituency on Wednesday to supervise the strict enforcement of election model code of conduct.

Meanwhile, the police and district authorities have so far seized Rs three lakh in cash, seven bottles of IMFL and 19.5 pieces of opium during the course of checking at four different naka points.
