Four-day Doul Utsav at Ratanpur from March 4

GUWAHATI, Feb 24 � Preparations are afoot to celebrate the four-day long 13th Shri Shri Krishna Doul Yatra Mahotsav at the Jagannath Mandir at Ratanpur (Bishnupur) starting from March 4.

In order to make the celebration a grand success, a strong celebration committee with 10 sub-committies have been constituted with Hemanta Kumar Mishra as president, Lohit Kalita as working president, Rupangka Bhattacharyya and Saityendra Rajbanshi as joint secretaries.

A Guwahati city committies was also formed with Gadadhar Kalita as president, Dhrubajyoti Sarma as working president and Dimbeswar Barman as secretary.

The four-day programme will begin with a cleanliness drive, flag hoisting, smriti tarpan, inauguration of Praneswar Sarma memorial archway, Pitmal Barman memorial gate and inauguration of Chandrakanta Sarma memorial Rava-Mandap followed by a tree plantation drive, quiz contest and drawing competition for children, lighting of ceremonial lamp etc. The Doul Mahotsav will be inaugurated by Bhabakanta Kalita, president of Tihu Sahitya Sabha.

The other programmes include Nagaranaam, Ojapali, felicitation function, performance of drama Sako, which will be inaugurated by Shyamsundar Khound, security of Asom Natya Sanmilan, Bhagawat Paath, Antaranga Alaap, etc.

Again, the souvenir Abir will be released by Dr Surajit Barman, principal of North Kamrup College, Bhagmara. On the other hand, the cultural nite will be participated in by popular singer Babu and Priyanka Kashyap.

The secretary of the celebration committee Rupanka Bhattacharjya and Saityendra Rajbanshi have requested all the people of greater Ratanpur area to participate whole-heartedly in the four-day event in order to make it a grand success like in the previous years.
