Four cadres of a radical group held

BONGAIGAON, April 17 - In a joint operation with Kokrajhar counterpart, Chirang district police arrested four activists of a radical group from three different places in Kokrajhar district and seized arms and ammunition from Chirang district in past 24 hours.

Chirang police launched the joint operation with its Kokrajhar counterpart at around 10.30 pm on Saturday night in Gossaigaon area and arrested Abu Bakkar Siddique(32) and Azizul Haque(19) from Tulsibil of the area. Based on their disclosure, the police arrested Jahanur Alam Seikh (29) from Mowamari of the same locality and Samad Ali Mondol (42) from Jaypur in Kokrajhar district.

After interrogation, the police seized one revolver, seven round ammunition, two pairs of camouflage dress, one hand grenade and five mobile sets from Dawkhanagar, the place where the training camp of this radical group was busted out in September last year, in Chirang district.

According to Dr LR Bishnoi, IGP (BTAD), with these four cadres, total 22 of the 28-member of the radical group have been arrested. This group had maintained a link with Jamatul Mujahidin of Bangladesh and planned to open such module in the State, Bishnoi said.

�These activists of radical group have been arrested as per the case filed in Dhaligaon Police Station after busting out a training camp of this group at Dawkhanagar in Chirang district last year. Out of 28 activists, 22 have been arrested, and a search operation is on to arrest the rest of the members,� said Sankar Brata Rai Medhi, Chirang Superintendent of Police.
