Four bodies recovered in Behali forest

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Feb 22 � The situation at Behali under Biswanath sub-division in Sonitpur district was tense today following the recovery of four more decomposed bodies of persons who had been missing since the Chauldhoa massacre on January 29.

The bodies have been identified as of Burha Teron, Bishay Teron and Prakash Teron of Karbi Block, Pathaijan under Biswanath sub-division and Maneswar Munda of Kukurmara village under Gohpur sub-division. They were in the age group from 40 to 50.

The hands of the dead persons were tied behind and bore marks of severe torture on their bodies. The bodies were found when a team of Arunachal Agrasan Pratirodh Samiti, along with police, had gone into the Behali Reserve Forest today, in search of those missing persons and they found the dead bodies near the police camp inside the Reserve Forest around 3 pm.

With this recovery, the toll went to 15.

The bodies have been kept at Behali police station and will be sent for post mortem tomorrow.

Senior civil and police officials have rushed to Behali are monitoring the situation.
