BONGAIGAON, April 19 - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit president Ranjit Kumar Dass laid the foundation stone of Naranarayan-Chilaray Khetra at Chaprakata in Bongaigaon district yesterday.
In his public address before laying the foundation, Dass appealed to the people to join hands with the State government in successful implementation of different developmental schemes for the progress of Assam and its people.
Sambhu Charan Barman, executive president of the All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani, organised the foundation stone laying ceremony in association with the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner Babulal Sarma, in his address, said the project will comprise a digital information and research centre on its campus.
Noted writer Dr Dwijendra Chandra Bhakat appealed to the government to install a statue of Naranarayan near the bridge over the Brahmaputra, which connects Bongaigaon and Goalpara districts.
During his visit, Dass also attended a celebration programme of Swachh Bharat Day at Barsangaon near Bongaigaon.
