Foundation stone of heliport laid at Udalguri

UDALGURI, Jan 3 - People of Udalguri district have much to rejoice in the New Year. The Udalguri town has been included in the aviation map with the laying of foundation stone of a heliport at Harpur village near Udalguri town yesterday by State Public Health Engineering minister, Rihon Daimari.

Disclosing the recent trend of development in the district, Daimari said Udalguri is now on the fast track of development securing the 15th position in the district-level development ranking in India.

He also said the heliport will be worth Rs 1 crore and with it Udalguri has found its place on the aviation map of the country. He also mentioned that funds have been cleared for the Udalguri-Rowta incomplete road and the Udalguri-Kalaigaon Road.

�Moreover, a bridge across the Jiya Dhansiri at Bhairabkunda will be built so that people could travel to Tawang and Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh within a short time,� Daimari said.

The minister informed that Rs 34 crore has been allotted for the bridge construction at Bhairabkunda. He said the government has taken up several schemes for the promotion of tourism at Bhairabkunda in which local educated unemployed youths will be benefited.

Speaking on the occasion, Robinson Mochahary, Additional Principal Secretary of BTC, said the people of Udalguri district are going to get another good news as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the proposed Udalguri Engineering College through digital medium from New Delhi on January 15 next. Mochahary also informed that a model degree college at Kochpara near Harisinga and a district science centre at Udalguri town will very soon be established. He also said the Mazbat area of Udalguri district will soon have an Ekalavya Vidyalaya.

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the heliport was also attended by Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district, Tridip Daimari, Speaker of BTC Assembly, Jagadish Sarkar, Executive Member of BTC, Ripen Daimari, MCLA of Bhairabkunda constituency, among others.
