Foundation stone-laying prog of police barracks held online

HAILAKANDI, Nov 29 - Coinciding with the foundation stone-laying ceremony of 72 police barracks in the state by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Brahmaputra river island district Majuli, a programme was also held at the Police Reserve complex here on Sunday to mark the occasion.

Hailakandi is one of the selected districts where a 100-bed police barrack will come up at the Police Reserve complex under the Maitri Yojana in the first phase.

Altogether, 200 police barracks designed with pre-engineered building technology (PEB) will be constructed in different districts under the Maitri Yojana.

Speaking at a function organised by the Hailakandi police administration, Deputy Commissioner Megh Nidhi Dahal said the police barracks designed with PEB technology would come up shortly.

Dahal said with the coming up of the barracks, a conducive atmosphere will be created which would enable the police personnel to put in more dedicated effort towards the service of the people.

Superintendent of Police Pabindra Kumar Nath praised the state government for taking such a laudable initiative and exuded optimism that it would pave the way for transformation of the state police force.

Nath said the slew of measures taken up by the present government such as setting up of modern police stations and police barracks would bring about a sea change in the mindset of the police personnel and would help in enhancing their competency and efficiency.

Former minister Gautam Roy, BJP district president Swapon Bhattacharjee, MLA Nizamuddin Choudhury, AIUDF district president Afzol Hussain, Congress district general secretary Samsuddin Borlaskar and representative of Raijor Dal Abul Hussain Mazarbhuiya praised the state government for the initiative to build barracks for police personnel and hoped that it would go a long way in improving their working conditions and help build better rapport with the people.

All the dignitaries and people present viewed live the central programme held in river island Majuli.

IN Dhubri: Along with other districts of the state, in Dhubri too the foundation stone of three police barracks by using pre-engineered building technology were laid by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal via video conferencing facility from Brahmaputra river island district Majuli, our Correspondent adds.

In Dhubri district, one barrack each under Dhubri, Tamarhat and Sapatgram will be built.

�These barracks are meant for police personnel and has a capacity of 70 person with all modern facilities along with a dormitory and recreation space�, said Dhubri Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra. He added that it will facilitate police personnel to live in a dignified manner.

Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani along with a host of other dignitaries attended the programme which was held at the Dhubri Police Reserve playground.

IN TEZPUR: The foundation stone-laying ceremony of a PEB police barrack under the state Government�s Maitri scheme at the Police Reserve in Tezpur was held today in the presence of Tezpur MLA Brindaban Goswami, Sonitpur district Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh and Superintendent of Police Mugdhajyoti Dev Mahanta, among others, our Correspondent adds.

The foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal from Jengraimukh in Majuli vide a virtual function which was streamed live to the audience present. A puja was also organised to mark the occasion.

Of the 72 other police barracks whose foundations were laid by the Chief Minister today, a total of 100 such police barracks will be built in the first phase using Pre-Engineered Building technology, which is expected to cut down construction time considerably.

Additional SPs Numal Mahatta, Olindita Gogoi, Sumita Shormah, DSP (HQs) Dr Rashmirekha Sarmah, OCs and ICs of several police stations and other officials and staff were also present in today�s programme.

IN Biswanath Chariali: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of 72 pre-fabricated police barracks all over Assam in a virtual programme centrally organised in Majuli today, our Correspondent adds.

In Biswanath Chariali too, arrangements were made simultaneously in the SP�s office to lay the foundation stones of the allotted three barracks which are to be built at Falfali, Biswanath Chariali, Gingia Police Station campus and Ghahigaon Police Outpost.

Biswanath Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Saurabh Jyoti Saikia, DSP (Hq) Muzaffar Hussain, police staff, VDP personnel etc., were present on the occasion.
