Foundation of model hospital laid at Kamalpur

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Feb 25 � Himanta Biswa Sarma, State Health and Family Welfare Minister, laid the foundation stone of the proposed Kamalpur Model Hospital at the Kamalpur Community Health Centre campus.

In his inaugural speech, the Health Minister said that the State Government has introduced the ambitious project and the construction of the hospital would be completed within 24 months with an aim to making sufficient medical and healthcare facilities available.

�After completion of the hospital, a long-standing demand regarding medical facilities of the people of Kamalpur constituency would be filled up, the minister said.

Attending the meeting, Uttara Kalita, local MLA of Kamalpur LAC, said that the development ushered in by the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress Government in the rural areas of the State has changed the earlier picture. She also called upon the public of the constituency to work unitedly with the Government for the overall development of the constituency.

The meeting was presided over by Babul Ali, ZPC member of Modartola and the vote of thanks was offered by Sacha Dhar Kalita.

Ganesh Puja held: The three-day Sri Sri Maha Ganesh Puja concluded at Karara Kadomtol recently. The puja began with the hoisting of the flag by Narayan Chandra Deka, president of the Ganesh Puja celebration committee followed by the smriti tarpan by Golok Deka, executive president of the puja committee. In the sapling plantation programme, a number of senior citizens took part.

The main entrance to the puja pandal was inaugurated by Madhab Das. The subject selection meeting was held later and the �Nagara Nam� was inaugurated by Abala Deka, ex-president of the Karara Gaon Panchayat.

The second day�s puja began with the prabhat pheri. An attractive programme, �Panitolan� was held and a cultural procession taken out in the area. A religious discussion took place under the chairmanship of Narayan Chandra Deka in which noted Bhagawat interpreter Pabitra Pran Dev Sarma and Suchil Goswami, officer of the District Museum, Darrang, participated as distinguished speakers. Ambikapad Goswami, headmaster of the Bapuji ME School, was the invited guest.

The last day of the puja began with �Santi� and �Purnahuti.� Girls� �Nagara Nam� was also held. Bandana Deka lit the earthen lamp of the puja. A play was also staged on the occasion by the Maa Kamakhya Natya Parishad, Uparhali.

The other programmes of the puja were �Ogni Ahban and Ahuti Prodan.� A cultural programme, prize distribution, modern dance competition and felicitation programmes were also held on the occasion.
