Foundation of ITBP campus laid at Sonapur

GUWAHATI, Feb 27 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today laid the foundation stone for an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) campus at village Karchhia in Sonapur (Assam) and also performed its bhumi-pujan in the presence of dignitaries, including Social Welfare Minister Akon Bora and HN Bora, Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management.

The Chief Minister said that by establishing ITBP camp in this area, the security scenario of the North East as a whole would get strengthened. Local areas will also get benefit, directly or indirectly, through establishment of the ITBP campus, he added.

Subhash Goswami, DG, ITBP; RK Saini, IG, ITBP; Raman Khadwal, DIG, ITBP; other senior officers of ITBP, force personnel, senior administrative and police officers of the State government and the local public were present on the occasion.

Subhash Goswami, while welcoming the Chief Minister, said ITBP is an elite force of the Union of India and deployed along the India-China border.
