Foundation of cancer hospital laid

GOLAGHAT, Dec 22 � An NGO �Paritran� laid the foundation stone of a cancer hospital at Rajabari under Bokakhat subdivision recently. The foundation laying function was conducted by Dilip Goswami, the writer of Canceror Answer. The foundation stone of the hospital was laid by Deben Bhuyan, adviser of the hospital. The land for the hospital has been donated by Konpai Das. An amount of Rs 2 lakh was offered by Mridul Sarma, a leading businessman of Golaghat and another amount of Rs 1 lakh was also donated by Amar Barua of Guwahati.

The people of Golaghat and Bokakhat have lauded the NGO for taking up such project for the needy people of Bokakhat, Golaghat and other places of Golaghat and Jorhat.

Seminar, workshop: A State-level ICSSR sponsored seminar and workshop will be held at Furkating College, Golaghat on February, 2013 on the theme �Challenges and prospects of employment generation under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The NRLM has already started its functioning throughout the country with the main target of uplifting the economic condition of the poor in a time bound manner.

It has replaced the Swarnajayanti Swarozgar Yojana under which lakhs of self-help groups have been formed. But in Assam it seems that rural people of the State are not much aware of the NRLM for which department of Economics. Furkating College and Gramin Sangha, Furkating have taken a decision to jointly organise the seminar.

It is expected that a large number of teachers, students, members of SHGs, NGOs will take part in the seminar. University and college teachers and also research scholars interested to present papers in the seminar may send their full papers. Function postponed: The 125th years jayanti of the Golaghat Government Bezbarua Higher Secondary School which was scheduled to be celebrated from January 28 to 30, 2013 has been postponed due to coming panchayat election which would be held in the month of January 2013.

In a press statement, Biman Chandra Goswami principal and working president of the celebration committee said that the next date would be announced after the election.
