BISWANATH CHARIALI, Jan 28: The foundation stone of a statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was laid by Pramod Barthakur, MLA of Biswanath today at Rail Gate, Borigaon. Akan Saikia, a social worker lit the earthen lamp at the ceremony, which was presided over by Niranjan Hazarika, senior journalist and acting president of the Uttar Chariali Sanmilita Mancha. The meeting was attended by Bishwanath Zila Parishad Member Satendra Hazarika, Biswanath Block Development Officer Ajay Sinha, Lehugaon Village Panchayat President Priyanka Hazarika, Lehugaon Regional Council member Jeevan Bara, etc.
Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s Manuhe Manuhor Babe was performed by Golap Hazarika, Latamani Oja, Mainu Mahanta Hazarika while the programme was conducted by Basanta Borah, Secretary of Uttar Chariali Sanmilita Mancha. – Correspondent
