GUWAHATI, July 9 - The 39th foundation day of the Gauhati Artists� Guild will be observed with a day-long programme on July 11.
Noted artist Benu Misra will inaugurate the programme at 10 am. The other highlights of the day will include a tribute-paying ceremony to departed artists, a plantation programme and a drawing contest among children on the topic of plantation.
In the evening, Dr Hitesh Deka, Principal of KK Handiqui State Open University, will light the ceremonial lamp. The Guild�s annual exhibition will be inaugurated by eminent folklorist Dr Birendranath Datta. Litterateur Dr Dhrubajyoti Borah will release the annual Guild journal. A cultural function is also scheduled from 7 pm.
