GUWAHATI, Dec 7 � Former State athlete and an employee of NF Railway Rina Raidingia died at Maligaon Railway hospital today. She was 45.
Hailing from Kakopathar, Raidingia was a javelin thrower and represented the State team in various national level championships. At the junior level, she won a gold medal in national championship in 1982. She also represented the State school team in National School Games on several occasions and brought laurels to the State.
She got appointment in NF Railway via sports quota in 1994. She won several medals in All India Railway Meet representing NF Railway. Ridingia was suffering from protracted illness since last couple of months.
Assam Olympic Association, Assam Athletic Association, NF Railway Sports Association and noted sportsperson like Taibun Nesha, Promila Bharali condoled the untimely death of the champion athlete.
She leaves behind her husband one son and a daughter.
