Former Santosh Trophy player passes away

GUWAHATI, Nov 7 - Former Santosh Trophy and junior India player Sushanta Musahary passed away in the wee hours today at his Lohit Nagar, Noonmati residence here.

The 54-year-old Musahary was a noted defender during 1980s and mid 90s. Originally hailing from Gossaigaon, Musahary played for Chandrapur Thermal team in the GSA A Division Football League for several years.

Representing the Assam school team in National School Games he was picked for the Indian school team for the Asian School Football Championship held at Seoul in 1983. In the previous year he was picked for the junior India team and played in Nepal.

In the year 1986, Musahary was selected to represent Assam in Santosh Trophy.

Presently he was running a football coaching centre at the Guwahati Refinery Sector II ground.

The All Assam Football Players� Association and Young Star Football Coaching Centre condoled the demise of the renowned footballer of the State.

He leaves behind his wife one son and a daughter.
