By ANN Service

TIHU, May 29 - The coronavirus-induced lockdown has brought in acute misery for the folk artistes of Paschim Nalbari.

Folk culture such as dhulia, ojapali, bhaona, nagara naam, band party, etc., are an integral part of Assamese culture and a regular feature in many social events.

These artistes used to earn their livelihood by performing in various functions and events but the lockdown has left them with no source of income.

With the lockdown continuing for more than two months, all functions and events have been cancelled, which brought untold misery to their lives.

Considering the plight of the folk artistes and their families, the conscious people of Paschim Nalbari have appealed to the Assam Government to introduce a scheme to help these poor artistes overcome this crisis.
