DIGBOI Dec 29 - The Assam Jatiyabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad�s Digboi unit today accorded a rich floral tribute to the victims of the ongoing anti-CAA movement.
The five youths who were killed during the police firing during the anti-CAA agitation were remembered by offering floral tribute and lighting lamps.
Beside student activists, people from various walks of life including women and children also participated in the programme held in front of the AJYCP office along the National Highway.
A high school student, Sam Stafford, Dipanjal Das, a temporary worker at Sainik Bhawan in Guwahati, Dijendra Panging, Abdul Alim and Iswar Nayak were among the youths who were remembered during the programme.
Meanwhile, an active leader of the women�s wing of an organisation in Digboi during her address lamented that the anti-CAA agitation at Digboi has been surprisingly fizzling out. Urging the people at large to keep the democratic agitation intact, the woman activist said that if the pace of the movement slows down, the desired ends may not be realised as expected and as determined by the people of Assam.
Several other women speakers also expressed their opinion almost in the same vein stating that the people of Assam must be more determined and must not leave space for the anti -people government to easily fulfil their designs at the cost of Assamese identity, culture and demography.
In a separate incident on Saturday, the activists of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samity (CMSS) along with other organisations conducted a bike rally from Borjan Maya Bazar to Kenduguri to extend a warm welcome to Lakhya Jyoti Gogoi, the vice-president CMSS, Central Committee.
Based on a case at Jorhat PS No 3498/19 registered U/S 120 (B)/145/151/153(A)/157 /158/283/291/431 ipc, Gogoi was arrested by Assam Police on December 13 along with Akhil Gogoi for spearheading the CAA agitation in Digboi area.
