Flood scene in Doomdooma circle improving

DOOMDOOMA, Aug 18 - The overall flood situation in Doomdooma revenue circle has improved today. The people who took shelter in two relief camps have returned to their homes.

According to an official report, 32 revenue villages namely, Chomoni, Hatibat, Borgaon, Purani Motapung, Goriating, Bebejia, Baghjan, Dighaltarrang, Laina, Laopati, Phulbari, Udalguri, Tamuli, Gakhirbheti etc., under Doomdooma revenue circle with more than 13,000 population were affected by this phase of flood. The flood and erosion of the river Brahmaputra have brought threat to the historic Sri Sri Mayamora Tipuk-Simaluguri Bajrapur Satra situated at Kordoiguri area here.

On the other hand 54 agricultural villages covering 3706 hectares of cropland under Doomdooma Agricultural Division were submerged by floodwaters. The local administration is continuously monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, a team of All Tinsukia District Students� Union (ATDSU) visited the flood-affected villages of Dirak-Chomoni area on Thursday and distributed food materials and medicines among the affected people.
