Flood relief operations reviewed in Golaghat dist

DERGAON, Aug 6 - Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra reviewed the flood relief operations carried out by various departments in the district on the sidelines of the District Development Committee meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner�s office on Saturday, a press release stated. The Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments concerned to step up post-flood activities in areas where flood waters had receded. He instructed the PHE officials to ensure availability of drinking water and carry out spot disinfection of all water sources in flood-affected areas. Executive Engineer, PHE, Monoranjan Saikia informed that around 55 low-cost toilets have been constructed in various relief camps while spot disinfection of nearly 12,000 water sources were already carried out.

CEO, APDCL, Golaghat HK Buzarbarua informed that electricity has been provided in several relief camps while ensuring safety. Steps will be taken for early restoration of damaged equipment. Joint Director, Health Services, Dr Ratul Bordoloi informed that 50 medical teams have been deployed to visit the flood-affected areas and health check-up of SDRF and Fire and Emergency Services personnel engaged in rescue operations was also carried out. The Deputy Commissioner asked all departmental heads concerned to carry out extensive and proper flood damage assessment after the flood waters recede and submit the reports at the earliest.

He also reviewed the progress of various developmental schemes being implemented in the district. CEO, Zilla Parishad, Pranab Kumar Sharma, District Development Commissioner Farid Ahmed, ADCs Orpah Baglary, Utpal Doley, Dhiraj Das, SDO (C) Dhansiri, Bipul Das, heads of various departments were present in the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner visited various flood relief camps under Morongi revenue circle and took stock of the situation prevailing in the camps on Sunday. He visited the relief camps set up at Doigrung Bagisha Club, Pura Bunglow, Rajabari Bagisha Club, Solmari camp, among others.

On the occasion, relief materials were distributed to around 300 families residing in these camps by State Bank of India, Golaghat. DGM, State Bank of India, Debasish Mitra, Jorhat module, AGM, SBI, Ranjit Dutta, branch managers of various SBI branches, other bank officials, Election Officer, Golaghat and i/c Circle Officer, Morongi, Kukila Gogoi, President of Assam Saah Janajati Satra Santha, Morongi were also present on the occasion.
