DIBRUGARH, July 20 � Hundreds of flood affected people of Dadhia village today staged demonstration in front of the office of the Chabua revenue circle, demanding relief measures in the area.
Although a few relief camps were set up in the area by Chabua revenue circle office recently, where food items were distributed, the quantity was not enough to cover all the affected families. Several
homes are still under the flood water and the local population has alleged that the recurring flood and erosion problem of the area has not been taken seriously by the administration.
The demonstration led by local unit of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Sammittee (KMSS) and local flood and erosion resistance forum demanded that the Government reach out to them with immediate relief measures. The villagers of Dadhia said that they were deprived of relief materials during the recent distribution by the administration.
They have also demanded permanent solution to the flood and erosion problem in the area.
