Fire Service Week at Air Force Station

JORABAT, April 19 - The Air Force Station Digaru, Sonapur, is observing �Fire Service Week� in order to create fire safety awareness among the people living in the vicinity of its Digaru campus. Various awareness programmes and functions are being organised by the Air Force Station authorities to mark the occasion.

On Monday morning Fire Services personnel arranged a demonstration and lecture on fire havoc awareness among the students and academic staff of the Digaru High School and Digaru ME School. More than four hundred students from both the schools took part in the awareness programme. Local people living in the vicinity of the Air Force Station also actively participated in the awareness programme.

Vikash Kumar, Station Fire Officer of Air Force Station Digaru gave the awareness speech along with the headmasters of the participating schools.

Demonstrations on how fire extinguishers are used to control fire caused by various solid, liquid and gaseous materials were given to the participants.

Kumar said that such awareness programmes are beneficial to society as the people can get the knowledge as to how fire havoc can be mitigated and losses due to fires can be reduced.

Talking to The Assam Tribune, Ratul Borah, teacher of participating school Digaru High School said that such awareness and demonstrative programmes on disaster risk management and control ought to be organised regularly. He appreciated the programme organised by the personnel of Digaru Air Force Station.

The Fire Service Week which had got under way on April 14, will conclude tomorrow.
