TINSUKIA, Jan 1 � Gas coming out through numerous pores near Well No. NHK 285 of Oil India Ltd situated in Deohal Tea Estate under Bordubi Police station, Tinsukia district, caught fire around 6 pm on Saturday and spread to a big area of the tea garden.
Even though fire tenders were pressed into service, the fire was yet to be brought under control till filing of this report. The incident has created panic in the entire surrounding area, especially the nearby workers� quarters being occupied by thousands of garden workers.
It may be mentioned that a devastating fire had broken out in the same area in October last year which, according to some quarters, was the handiwork of ULFA.
