SILCHAR, Aug 4 - Following the jostle between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation and police officials inside the Silchar airport on August 2, an FIR was lodged at the Udharbondh Police Station on Friday night against the TMC delegation for obstructing police functioning during the period of promulgation of Section 144 CrPC in the district.

It has been learnt that a DSP-level probe will be initiated to investigate the case in which Mohua Moitra has been named as the prime accused.

An FIR was registered for obstructing police duty, violating rules under Section 144 and for physical assault on police persons in which two women constables were injured. We are investigating the matter and action will be taken accordingly, said Cachar Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan.

It may be mentioned that the TMC delegation, including Minister in the West Bengal Government, six members of Parliament and a Member of Legislative Assembly of the party, which arrived at the Silchar airport on August 2 to supposedly speak to the people whose names were dropped from the complete NRC draft published on July 30, were taken into preventive detention under Section 151 of CrPC for possible breach of peace and security in the district.

A day later, members of the TMC delegation were released on PR bond and returned to their respective destinations.
