DOOMDOOMA, Aug 29 - Police has registered a case (No-355/15) against Doomdooma LAC MLA Dilip Moran on the basis of an FIR lodged by one Amit Sharma of Uchamati in Doomdooma town.
According to information, Amit has been allegedly running an illicit liquor shop near the residence of the MLA at Uchamati. The MLA had reportedly warned Amit several times to stop the illicit trade. On Thursday evening when Amit was cooking mutton in his shop the MLA came and again warned him. Both of them had some heated arguments and at one point of time MLA Moran allegedly started beating Amit with a piece of split bamboo. Later, Amit lodged an FIR at Doomdooma PS.
The MLA has been criticised for the incident. According to some people, being a people�s representative he should not have taken the law into his hands.
After the incident the MLA�s wife Rajita Moran also lodged an FIR at Doomdooma PS, complaining against the illicit liquor trade near her residence.
As MLA Moran had left for Guwahati early Friday morning to attend a party programme, his reaction could not be taken at the time of filing this report.
It may be mentioned that there are several illicit liquor shops in the Uchamati area of Doomdooma town, which have vitiated the social environment of the area. It has been alleged that though the traders are carrying out such illicit trades openly, neither the excise department nor the police takes any legal action against them for reasons best known to them.
