Film fest held in honour of Mother Teresa

DIBRUGARH, Nov 14 � As part of the birth centenary celebration of Nobel Peace laureate Mother Teresa, the Catholic diocese of Dibrugarh hosted an international film festival at Don Bosco School auditorium here recently.

Altogether six films, both documentaries and short films, were screened free of cost for the public. Hundreds of people, including school children, occupied their seats from morning 10 am to 5 pm in the evening to watch the movies surrounding the life and noble works of the Mother. The festival was inaugurated by Joseph Aind, the Bishop of Dibrugarh.

Some of the crowd-pulling movies which were screened included � A Call Within a Call, Precious Love, The Legend, Making of Saint, From Saint to Sainthood, and In the Service of God�s Poor.

Dr Mukul Sharma, retired professor, Education department, Dibrugarh University, attended the concluding function as the chief guest. While reflecting on the life of Mother Teresa, Dr Sharma said that Mother had empathy for the suffering, poor, needy and the orphaned. �Mother Teresa took part in the sufferings of the poor, the destitutes and the ostracised,� he said.

Exhibitions on Mother Teresa were also part of the festival where St Xavier� School, St Mary�s School, Don Bosco School and Little Flower School took active part. Prizes for the various competitions held ahead of the festival in honour of Mother Teresa were also given away to the winners during the concluding ceremony of the festival.
