GUWAHATI, Nov 12 - Jorhat based Sumanta Dutta has been selected as assistant referee by the world football�s governing body (FIFA) for its 2017 list.
The candidature of seven candidates was accepted by the All India Football Federation and Dutta was one among them.
Ankur Dutta, secretary, Assam Football Association congratulated Sumanta Dutta and said, �Its a matter of great pride for us as Sumanata has been selected as assistant referee for FIFA list 2017. Its shows his commitment to the game of football and I would like to request all the other referees of the State to follow Sumanta�s example�.
Sumanta Dutta has been a known figure in the Indian football who has already officiated I-League as well as Indian Super League matches as assistant referee.
Kedar Nath Mour, Babul Burmese, Mrinal Kanti Roy, Nirmal Chetia were the other Assam referees who were in the FIFA referee�s panel.
Meanwhile, the Jorhat District Sports Association felicitated Dutta for his achievement.
