Festive atmosphere at AGP office

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 19 - A festive atmosphere prevailed at the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) office at Ambari here today as news of the partys performance reached the party workers.

There were arrangements for watching the election results on a big screen at the AGP office, where the party supporters gathered since early morning.

We were confident of a very good performance since the very beginning. The regional force would yet again get prominence in the State, said an elated party worker.

The workers celebrated the occasion by bursting fire crackers and performing Bihu throughout the day. There were several spells of dancing and colour-smearing at frequent intervals as the news of Atul Bora, Phani Bhushan Choudhury, Keshab Mahanta, Renupama Rajkhowa, Satyabrat Kalita, Pradip Hazarika and others securing victory flashed on the television screen.

The celebrations reached a crescendo with the arrival of victorious Guwahati West candidate Ramendra Kalita at the party office. Party workers greeted him with all enthusiasm. Apart from holding feasts and distributing of sweets, the jubilant workers danced on the streets to express their joy.

Both the AGP leaders and the workers reached out to the masses this time, who gave their wholehearted support to our candidates in return. There was a greater level of awareness among the masses, and people came out in large numbers to cast their votes supporting a change. We are happier because the victory of BJP, AGP and the alliance is victory of the indigenous identity, stated another worker.
