GUWAHATI, Aug 17 � Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club rallied to hold Sunrise Athletic Club 1-1 in their Abhishek Motors RG Baruah GSA Super League Football Tournament here at the Nehru Stadium today.
Nigerian striker Ugochukwu put Sunrise ahead in the 27th minute while Birdwm Basumatary restored parity in the 54th minute. Sayao Thankul sent a through to Ogbuka and the FCI defenders tried to trap the Nigerian offside. But the referee ruled it out and Ogbuka made no mistake in beating the FCI custodian with ease.
Opportunist Birdwm put the ball into the goal after Sunrise custodian failed to grab the ball off a shot from Lalhriatpuia.
It was a well contested encounter. FCI players were in control in the second session and created several goal bound moves.
A Div: Maharana Athletic Club defeated City Police 2-1 in the A Division League.
Wilson Deori and Mahaveer Ekka scored one goal each in the 40th and 63rd minutes while Subhakhan netted the loan goal for Police in the 61st minute.
