GUWAHATI, June 2 - Chairman and Managing Director of FCI Yogendra Tripathi held a review meeting in the city on Thursday regarding construction of godowns in the North Eastern zone.
He also reviewed the timely procurement of foodgrains by the State governments of North-East.
Various land-related issues pending with the State governments were also taken up and emphasis was placed on expediting the construction activities.
Representatives from the governments of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura assured Tripathi regarding the timely acquisition and allotment of land to enable the construction of godowns.
Godowns with capacity of around 1.25 lakh MT can be constructed once land is allotted by the State governments concerned, said Tripathi.
