By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Dec 20 - With an objective to promote the rights entitled to transgender (TG) community in Manipur, an exclusive Mega Fashion Event tilted Sana gi Likphang, will be staged at Hotel Imphal on December 23 (6 to 8pm) under the aegis of Sana Ebemma- an NGO based in Imphal.

This mega fashion event will be the curtain raiser for a 3-month long campaign to promote the rights of transgender, in which a series of events such as penal discussion, workshop and consultation, pride walk will be organised, RK Sujata, Secretary of Sana Ebemma said, while speaking to mediapersons in Imphal on Sunday.

Sandra Nandeibam, who is a TG activist and brand ambassador of the NGO informed that the supreme court of India has recognised the TG community as third gender. However, society at large failed to acknowledge the facts. He added that the campaign will act as a catalyst in sensitising of the masses.

The December 23 Sana gi Likphang will focus on indigenous essence, as the title itself signifies giving a new life to erstwhile indigenous things by erasing the out-dated attitudes, for instance the erstwhile neglect of Kayma Likpang.
